I’m enjoying watching East of Everywhere (Everything?) only because it’s fun spotting the locations and the locals as extras. Though it does all look very plastic and set-decorationish. But as quality drama…disappointing. Not as good as Sea Change and too similar. Characters are very stereotyped and rather superficial. Richard Roxburgh- what are you doing in this??? The lure of a filming stint in Byron Bay must have been too hard to resist. Right after it I switched to Brothers and Sisters, which, okay, is a sophisticated soap (Rachel Griffiths is so good) but I’m riveted.
Sorry to hear Vietnam veteran friend Bob Morris who sells great plants at the Mullum markets is in hospital having a big op on his leg. While it’s not an official diagnosis it seems to go back to his days of wading through paddy fields filled with Agent Orange. Get well soon Bob . . .I need some new plants!
And I will be planting lots more aloe vera plants. Always handy in case of burns to cut and whack the sticky flesh on damaged skin, like sunburn too. But my friend Dieter makes a daily milkshake with unpasteurised fresh milk from the cow, bit of yogurt, honey, a dried crumbled leaf or two of Gotu Kola (St Johns Wort), the inside of an aloe vera. He scrapes the flesh out and freezes it to keep on hand and then throws in a bit of fruit and whips it all together in the blender. Says it’s the best health drink going!
