SNAKES AND INVENTIONS

My clever Aussie friend Ric Richardson who is an inventor, technologist, designer, among other things, is always coming up with new ideas since he started his company Uniloc in his shed at his (then) home in Elanora Heights in Sydney to patent the first encryption locking system for computers back in the early 80s. Since then it went on to become a sixty million US dollar company that has paved the way for continued development of secure, patented technologies that consistently exceed the market demand and support continual change. Now he is part of a non profit organization being set up to work with the Justice Department in the US to address and self regulate the issue of predators on social computer networks. Ric is one corporate thinker and doer who uses his talents to help people not just make profits. He’s hoping he can soon work out of Broken Head instead of Silicon Valley. Good on you Ric

Had an encounter with a snake in the shed the other day – turned out to be a large tree snake. But what with the mice, rats, cane toads, chooks, dog and cat in the garden – not to mention the tropical growth – snakes are hard to spot. And they have some very nice hiding places around the stack of firewood and although we’ve put mesh under the front door and places they can slither into they still surprise us in the house on occasion.

Fortunately they’ve been big sleepy carpet and diamond pythons. But now that they are active again, especially the bad browns, I’m trying a new product – ShooSnake. (Has anyone tried it?) >/p>

Apparently snakes have exceptionally sensitive taste and scent organs, and can actually taste. The maker says the blend of natural extracts in ShooSnake gives of a powerful scent and bitter taste, which the snake finds unpleasant, so it goes elsewhere! It does not harm the snake or pets or birds being non toxic.. You spray areas you want protected so if they come in contact with the stuff they never go back.

That’s the theory. I’ll see if it works! Maybe I should ask Ric to invent something!

While on sprays and stuff…I’ve found diluted oil of cloves great for getting rid of all the mould!

Cheers.
