How come we’re going to be stuck with a car rally beside the world heritage listed Border Ranges where there’s sensitive environmental landscape, residential homes, wildlife and Aboriginal cultural sites? In spite many locals not supporting this madness the State Government has pushed through special legislation enabling the Repco Car Rally event to be held for the next decade. We’ve won this dubious honour from WA who were sick of it and decided it wasn’t value for money. Is our State Government spending money on this when there are other more pressing needs…..like fixing roads and bridges for ordinary motorists? Why do I get the feeling I’ve been railroaded here?
Had a drama with Mina the new puppy, not quite six months old. Miss Houdini escaped into the boggy cow paddock next door to romp through the mud. I caught her slurping up muddy water and forty five minutes later she went into shaking convulsions. The vet pumped her stomach and treated the symptoms and fortunately she survived after a rough night. We’re wondering what caused it – a dead animal, rotting vegetation, some nasty residue floating up from the water table? Fences have been heavily secured.
Have had some work done on the house. What is it with these young tradesmen? Are they blind? How do they live at home? They thrown planks on plants, drive over garden lights and flowers, pour leftover cement on the lawn, throw their chicken bones in the shrubbery for the dogs to choke on, and leave litter everywhere. And when I speak to them they stare at me like I’m some alien. I guess they can’t hear me over their screeching music.
Did you see the story of the couple in the US celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary? Both were over 100 and funny, articulate and he was able to put a garter on her leg – which she was able to lift ! Loved them, wonder what their secret is. I think teasing and laughter was part of it.
Whatever happened to the lovely sunny winter days where it was pleasant to sit in the sun out of the wind and enjoy this season?
Cheers
