Dear Di......thank you for replying to me. I look forward so much to your new book -- especially as it about opals. I am just about to re-read Tears of the Moon and it's sequal......a friend has just come home from Broome and listening to her talking about it and the pearls, made me go get the books out ready.
Keep well.

Hello Di.
I'm anxiously waiting to learn if there will be a new book coming out soon? I have all your books and have loved the stories set in our own great country.
Have you thought of setting a storyline around our wonderful opal industry?
Best wishes from,
Doreen. |

Hi Di
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy reading your books. You have a real gift to bring your characters alive. I have either visited or lived in quite a few of the places which are settings for your stories and you have drawn them very accurately. My aunt,(just recently turned 90) Phyllis Donaldson and her family lived at Bungan Beach in the 50s to the 70s while I lived at first in Lane Cove. Later my husband and I moved to the Blue Mountains, living there for 17 years and then west to Dalby(Qld) after the 'recession we had to have' ruined my husband's business. We moved around a lot after that- including the Sunshine Coast,Narrabi, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane,Pt Macquarie and finally Nowra where my husband passed away. Despite all our moves and the problems we faced- bushfire and also the death of my second daughter, we had a happy stable family and they say having to adjust to these moves actually helped them adjust to meeting new people and making new friends. I'm a teacher, mother of 6 (plus one little girl we lost from a cot death) and now a widow. My husband died suddenly from a stroke 3 years ago. We had been married for 36 years. He was a wonderful friend as well as lover and although he originally was an industrial chemist, was also a writer (wrote only two books - 'In the Wake of the Spray' and a story in 'Force Nine and More')and had the gift of a raconteur also.
Currently I'm staying with one of my sons (he's not married yet) and teaching up here but hope to move back south closer to more of my children next year. (I'm 65 this year but do not intend to just 'retire' from life.)
Thanks again for your books. They are a wonderful escape from the pressures of life and I can come away from them refreshed to tackle the everyday problems again.
One day I would like to write of my own experiences and journeys hrough life for my children but that will have to wait for a little while yet.
Regards
Cynthia Slack. |

Hi, I started reading your books after seeing your name on the Peter Watt site, my brother in Brisbane posts them over to me, I have to say I wait with baited breath for your next book, they are so descriptive I can picture myself there and it is always a let down when I turn the last page and return to reality. |

Your insight and wisdom have touched me deeply and made me think of who we are and what we are doing on and to this planet called "home". I am retired and moved from NZ 5 years ago and have fallen in love with this country that has adopted me. The Songmaster touched my heart and has inspired me to change from thinking about change to doing something positive to affect it. I plan to explore the Kimberleys and listen with my heart to what they tell me. |

Hello Di,
I want to say thank you for your wonderful books which have given me great pleasure over the years, especially "Tears of the Moon". I could not put this book down and as in all of your books that I have read, I have cried and laughed and felt such emotions from the heart. I have also just finished reading "Heart of the Dreaming" and "Follow the Morning Star". Wouldn't be fantastic if they made a movie about Queenie and TR, how exciting! Having lived in Brisbane and parts of Queensland for the last 13 years, it's nice to know that I have been to some of these places that you have mentioned in these books. Please keep on writing stories about our beautiful country, you truly are an incredible writer.
Regards

Hello Di, Saw you on TV with Kerry Anne yesterday and may I congratulate you on the release of your 17th book. I read your book "Tears of the Moon" back in 2005 when we were doing our trip around Australia and enjoyed it so much especially as we had been to Broome, a fascinating and beautiful part of Australia and the description in your book relating to Broome, made me feel I was in the story. Thank you for a lovely read. Just discovered I have the book 'When the Singing Stops' and haven't read it yet so I have something to look forward to. I have just started reading again so by the time I have finished I will know Australia very well. Thank you Lorraine |

hello Di, I was in Target book dept xmas shopping and started talking to a Di Morrissey fan. I obtained a copy of Tears of the Moon and read it over the holiday. I thought my favourite authors were American women until I read this book. Over the past 10 yrs I'v read around 600 books and NOT ONE filled my heart with emotion as did this story, it was sooo real and so beautiful and rich in every way. Your gift for writing is extraordinary. Thank you |

This clever lady makes the most unique handbags out of hardback book covers and she also makes the most gorgeous bookmarks as well. She lives in Sydney but posts worldwide.

Geologically and for cultural reasons its a core point in the uplift of the Eastern Highlands. The old Gondwanaland sea coast used to be along here then there was seismic uplift that is still happening. This is why Gundagai is built on top of a hill full of asbestos, and phosphorus gas. The first asbestos mine in Australia was at Gundagai.
The Dog on the Tuckerbox monument was erected to praise the efforts of the early pioneers after they massacred the local Indigenous people. There is a massive Indigenous ceremonial ground at Gundagai not the least defined by a 7 mile dog style mirror image in the landscape. After the 1830s massacre, some songs and poems about the bogged dray etc appeared with the 'dog' featuring in them. This 'dog is a major Indigenous totem in the landscape. It has national significance. In the 1930s some shopkeeps decided a good way to attract tourists to Gundgaai was to celebrate what the 1830s squatters and others had done, and they erected that black dog on its serpentine green base at the Five Mile. The Nine Mile/Five Mile disparity is because the massacre happened closer to the Nine Mile. An earlier dog photo that was put up on a stick near the Nine Mile is on wiki.
As people might refer to a football team as the Sharks or Eels, so too other groups of people were sometimes referred to by their Dreaming Ancestor. The Gundagai Ancestor was the river dog image though there are multiple other large Ancestors in this area.
In August 2009 Gundagai Council is running a selective survey to see if shop owners and tourists and one or two locals not in those groups, want to move the built dog monument into town. They are trying to rebadge that dreadful Dog on the Tuckerbox (DonT)monument I think as some heroic sheep dog that wouldnt leave its heroic pioneer master when it isnt about that at all.
When the Coolac/Gundagai masssacre happened there was much glee after the despicable things they did, as the murderers got away with it whereas they didnt get away with Myall Creek which had happened a few months previous.
The NSW Corp did ride this way to check out the reports of a large and horrific massacre of Indigenous people but the investigation failed, then Nunn got turned on also it seems.
I am a descendent of 1848 settlers at Gundagai. I am not Indigenous but I am published (by one of the local area Indigenous people) in the Sheahan Bridge survey as knowing the Indigenous Gundagai story. |

Dear Di
I have just read your book HEART OF THE DREAMING it is without a doubt the most fantastic well depicted book of the Australian outback, you mentioned two women drovers in your book May Steele whom I never had met but her sister Edie is a very dear freind of mine & Lena another sister all have enjoyed your books. I am now reading BARRA CREEK.
I think HEART OF THE DREAMING would make a fantastic mini series or movie.
Look forward to reading and enjoying the rest of your books........... |

Hi Di. I have just discovered your books. They are a great read. Thank you. I just read 'Tears of the Moon'. You have part of my cousin's story (Capt. Cyril Longmore - the son of my great aunt Emma Longmore nee True), on p.582 re training the Indigenous warriors to defend our land from invasion. As you likely know, Cyril was in Broome when it was bombed and wrote the accounts of that invasion as official war correspondent for the WA and Australian press.
Best wishes

I've just finished reading Heart of the Dreaming and Follow the Morning Star. I just couldn't put the books down. It was heartfelt and had the drama to go with it. I actually felt as though I knew the characters and I enjoyed every chapter. You really set the scene and I was even dreaming of being at Tingulla. They are the only books written by you that I have read and I look forward to reading other books that you have written. A sincere thankyou for taking me to a beautiful and remarkable place Juliexx |

I've read most of your books but my favourite has to be Tears of the Moon. I spent spring/summer 1985 in Broome surfing (yes there was a small swell) Cable Beach of a day and watching the stairway to the moon of a night and wishing I could afford tears of the moon (pearls) during my stay. A magical destination with so many surprises and you took me back there with the book. Thank you. |

I meant to say collin but while I am online I really would like yo hear from you about how you came to write about The Heart of the Dreaming and Follow the moringstar? what was the basis for your inspiration. what you do with your charactors shows your skill and love for what you do as a writer and I belive that we would like you to bring these charactors aliive as they do in your books also on the Big Screen. Boy is it going to be a good if it was done on the area where the book was based on in the outback. |

Thank you for your wonderful audio books I have just listened for the second time to Tears of the Moon read by Kate Hood - she is amazing and turns your wonderful novel into a play that makes you think you are an observer right there and then - her voice is very magnitic with not an ounce of annoyance as some other readers can have - I wish you would add the list of your audio books onto the website - because of a massive dose of chemo I find I am unable to concentrate on reading so audio is now the way for me to read - thank you again for your wonderful literature - best wishes - your fan Saskia Vreedenburgh |

Hello Di. I am half way through my first (I think will be of many!)Di Morrisey novel 'Tears Of The Moon' I am fascinated by the beautiful way you write about the history of the pearling industry and the people who were involved and contributed to making this wild, vast part of Australia what it is today. Also touching on the 'stolen generation' helping us understand what these people endured. There is no better way to learn history than when it is wrapped around a story. Thank you for the lesson! |

2008 saw me type 'the end' to my first manuscript. A published author has read it and given me some ideas for editing it, so I will spend 2009 editing. Congratulations on all your books, Di. I am now appreciating the effort that you would have been through in order to produce such an aray of stories. Well done. |

G'day, I read 'Barra Creek' a couple of years ago and loved it! I didnt realise you had anymore books until 'Heart of the Dreaming' and 'Follow the morning star' fell into my hands. I didnt put either book down until I had read cover to cover. I would like to congratulate you on creating such inspiring and heartfelt stories. I really enjoyed reading them and I believe there should be a lot more novels written on the Australian outback. Being a country girl, I can relate to a lot of the issues featured in your books and I wish more people would read them and take more awareness in the Australian outback. Well done on such fantastic books, I hope you are planning on writing more! You are a true blue, 5 star author and a true inspiration to all! Cheers, Amanda |

Have just finished reading "The Islands". Since I was a RAAF wife for over 20 years, and was lucky enough to live in Honolulu for 3 years at the end of the 90's, this book totally resonated with me. You've got it all down pat - the snooty Wives Club, the reluctance of the mainlanders to appreciate the history of the Hawaiians, the beauty outside Waikiki, the dichotomy of the tourists and the locals, the homelessness, the lack of land rights. A terrific read. I could picture all the locations so well. |

Dear Di
You don't know me but I have just finished 2 of your books: the bay, & the valley. I really related to both, but more so the valley. I liked the story of the woman who goes back to her roots, ( I believe you have done so) I am on a similar journey. I was actually born in Taree in 1954, have lived in several different places, (currently in Newcastle) working but plan to relocate in 2010 to the Manning? My point is that I want to do what your character did and have a couple of weeks looking around the area to see what I think, from about end of November. I was wondering if you knew of any accomodation options that aren't too expensive, say $150 max per week. If your'e not too busy please send me an email. Thanks Sharon Cain |

Dear Di, Hello. You don't know me from Adam so let me introduce myself. My name , as you can see from below, is Rosa Christian. I am President of the local writers' group in Charters Towers. Our group is the Bush Curlews (for Peter Watt who is our first patron (for want of a better word). I wrote to Peter off the cuff, kind of like I'm doing to you right now, when we first formed in early 2007 and he has been very supportive with gifts and work-shops etc); anyway we are going to put on a big festival next year (Queen's birthday week-end, 2009). Peter has spoken very well of you and I was wondering if you would like to participate at some level in our Festival, "Gateway to Expression". Peter is coming up again and work-shopping for us. Others are still to be decided on but it will be a great week-end and I hope you decide you can join us. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Cheers, Rosa.

I just wanted to tell you that I've just finished listening to the audiobook version of Barra Creek. I stumbled on it while looking for books set in Australia, and I have to tell you how grateful I am to have found your lovely book! I enjoyed hearing about a heroine I could really support and your patient and careful descriptions of the scenery made for an amazing listen. Thanks, I really do wish it were easier to get your books in the US! |

Hi Di, Well there are so many things I would love to say but firstly how much I enjoyed reading "The Last Rose of Summer" I found it hard to put down and indeed related the ending to your own life without even reading about you as I have just done. I have also read The Reef and Barra Creek but enjoyed the Rose as No I. Normally a Josephine Cox, Anita Shreve, Jude Deveraux reader I have now been absolutely hooked on your writings and will endeavour to purchase all you write. sincerely J.Law.
PS I do wish my daughter would take up writing she was told she would be very good at it but as a mother of two youngsters it would be a challenge. Dont ever stop Di You have the ability to grasp the reader by the hand and take them into the writings with you and that is great. |

No matter how many times I read "The Reef" I am still enthralled by the plot and the intrigue of the characters. The development of Jennifer Towse throughout the book is so accessible and just a joy to read. I am still a teenager and this book is my favourite book. I believe that this book would make an excellent screenplay and a great way to advertise Australia.

Wish to express my appreciation for your work. I was desperate for an opportunity to break away my 'reality', so while on a short holiday I was drawn to your wonderful stories. Within 2 weeks I had read The Reef, The Valley and The Bay. I just didn't want them to end.....the stories took me to places I needed to be. Thank you so much. I am currently reading Tears of the Moon and it will be my chemo buddy tomorrow. |

Hi Di
I just love your books, once I start reading them I just can't put them down and I can read them over and over again, it makes you feel that you are actually the main character in the book. I really can't wait until the next one comes out. I would love to get the Childrens book Buster and the Queen Bee for my daughter but I haven't seen it where I get my books but I will keep on looking. Thank you for writing the fantastic books that you have written and keep up the good work.
Regards

Hello again Di,
A couple of years ago I bought books from you to sell in the back room of my cafe. Due to the fact I was unable to secure a new Lease, I had to close the cafe on New Year's Eve, 2007, after seven years. My lovely Landlords then leased it out to a new Cafe Owner, probably for a higher rent.
I am now selling books on-line, to shops, cafes, Post Offices etc in the area, and am wondering if I could purchase some more from you ?
Best regards
Robyn Ritchie

Dear Di,'The Valley' was a gift to me from my parents a couple of christmas's ago.Don't know why but only just recently picked it up to read.And...could'nt put it down.I felt as if I was Isabella,Lara and Dani.I lost myself in all of the characters.I could'nt put it down.
I have been living in the UK 11 years now and come from Lismore,NSW.I have many fond memories of holidays and trips to Byron.Only at christmas did my boyfriend and I escape to Byron for a couple of days. It's a special place.Hence,as soon as I finished The Valley today straight onto the internet to order The Bay and excitedly await its arrival.
I look forward to many more hours of enjoyable reading through your books. Many thanks |

Dear Di,
Hope you are well, I have actually written to you before in regards to your book Monsoon. I think it was one of the best books that I have ever read. I was actually wondering whether you could help me. For a long time now I have wanted to move over seas and work in a third world country for a couple of years. After reading Monsoon I realised that Vietnam is the country I would like to move to, and HOPE is the type of organisation that I would like to work for. As a writer I know you do a lot of research for your books, therefore I was wondering if you knew any more about HOPE in Vietnam. I know there is a HOPE in Cambodia, however could not find information on HOPE in Vietnam. If you have any information, or could point me in the right direction of someone that I could speak to, I would appreciate it. This must me quite a random email, compared to what you are used to!
Many thanks
Hayley Astridge

Hi Di,
I would just like to thank you for your brilliant and inspiring masterpieces. Thanks to your talents, with great pleasure I have only just started reading books (other than my university texts.)
I have almost read your entire collection. Whether its sitting back in the hair dressers chair crying over the death on the young girl in 'The Bay' or sitting on the gorgeous beach in Champagne Bay, Vanuatu reading about the Australian outback in ‘Barra Creek’ or just reading into the early hours of the morning and at the moment I just cannot seem to get enough of ‘The Heart of the Dreaming, I am even dreaming about TR Hamilton.
I absolutely love your creations - the themes, the inspirational characters (especially Queenie, from ‘Heart of the Dreaming’ and ‘Follow the Morning Star’) and the descriptions of the landscapes, just to name a few things.
Your have made me want to travel our wonderful backyard, however, I think I would be utterly disappointed to go to “Tingulla” and not go horse riding with Queenie and family or visit ‘The Valley’ and not have afternoon tea with Claude and George in their Café and the many other adventures your characters have.
Keep up your fabulous work, as I very much look forward to the rest of your collection and the many more, hopefully, to come.
Many thanks Di...

DEAR DI
I have just sent the lastest of your book to my anunt in Canada. They can not obtain your book over there. I took one of your book with me on a visit and left it for them to read. Now I have to send to them your lastest books to them. I am always being asked when the next book will be comming out. They love the stories of the outback and of the area arounf Broome.
Keep writting, I also love your books. My late Father always remarked " I glad toilet paper does not have writing on it, because I would never be able to go!. I was taught to read from an early age and will read anything printed on paper.

I was loaned a book, which sat on my bookshelf for quite some time. My son (almost 3 y.o) brought a book for me to read to him....it was Barra Creek. My mother had loaned it to me and often asked if i had read it yet. I began reading last monday, and finished tonight. Knowing I would finish today, i raced out and bought 2 more of your wonderful books, including my own copy of Barra Creek. I found whilst reading, that i was physically involved in the story...laughing and at a few points, crying, physically sobbing. No other book has brought about this kind of emotion. Thankyou. |

Really enjoyed Blaze. Then I got one of the biggest laughs I have had for a long time. To quote "Modern, large city centre and plaza". This, as a reference to Cessnock! Having just stayed a few nights there, during a wine tasting tour of the Hunter, I couldn't beleive my eyes. Is this really the same Cessnock that I had visited? That small shopping mall behind Vincent Street? I don't think Cessnock would even rate the word 'city' - small town is more like it.
Other than that - a good book. |

I have just finished a Kimberley expodition trip on the Orian explorer, which we boarde at Darwin, it then works it's way to Broome and slowly back again taking in all the splender of the Kimberley coast line. It was their that i first heard of your book "tears of the moon" which i quickly soaked into my mind, body and soul. At the time i purchased "Tears of the Moon" i alson brought "Kimberley Sun" which i am about to start, but firstly i had to tell you how much your book affected me, i felt i was living it, with goose bumps, tears, laughter, joy and sadness.I felt as though i could have turned around and went back to that incredible place they call the Kimberley, which incidently my father and my brothers named me after when i finally arrived into thier lives, they now are all over your side of OZ' now just down the road little, around Yamba they have property's. |

Congratulations on your wonderful books. The Valley particularly touched me. Being an artist..your character Dani has inspired me to 'get moving' with my art. Ive set up a special place to paint and within one week of finishing The Valley i have been accepted to show my work in a local exhibition and have signed up to have my own art stall at the Eumundi Markets.Dani inspired me to make art (my true love) my focus and since then so many doors have opened.
See how you can change peoples lives!
Thanks Dani...thanks Di.

Di, I would just like to say that i have been reading your books ever since your first was published. I wait impatiently for your next book. I just finished The Valley and was so touched by it. I typed in Isabella Kelly in Google and was pleasantly suprised that she was real and that a book had been written about her life. My point being that you made me believe, which is what you do in all your books and why they are so hard to put down once you start. Very honoured to read your books and hope you keep publishing such fullfilling, inspirational and charicaristic stories. Keep up the amazing work. A big fan. |

Hi Di,
I have read all of your books. Some of them twice.
I have so many ideas of stories that I am dreaming of one day having them printed as well. I come from the township of Karumba in the Gulf and really connected with Barra Creek as my family are barra fisherman.
thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and dreams in books so I can enjoy them too.

Hello Di, I just returned to the US after a 7 week vacation in Australia! It was the first time I had ever traveled to Australia and I had a wonderful time. I kept seeing your book "The Valley" in stores as I traveled. I felt like the book was calling to me! finally on the last leg of a 21 day trip to several cities I finally bought the book. It was so Great! I read it in 4 days! Finished reading it on a Train from Albury/Wogonda to Melbourne. (my sister live there)
I'm back home in California now, but have started to reread it as I'm sure I missed many interesting things.
When I finish it my daughter has already laid claim to it. Thanks for writing such a wonderful book, I felt like I knew everyone personaly while reading. I am now trying to add to my collection so I will be buying your other books. Thanks again, Helen
PS Love your Website! |

Hello Di!
Thank you for the opportunity of pinning a note to you.
I met you many years ago in Erina, NSW. You had just finished your first novel "Heart of the Dreaming" and I was so happy that you autographed a copy for me. I have enjoyed reading all your books and have kept everyone of them. Every Christmas I receive your latest book from Rani (my blue Burmese cat!) and so look forward to reading it. I am in the middle of reading "The Valley" and am unable to put it down.
You write so beautifully.
Thank you so much for all the pleasure you have given me and Good Luck with your next book.
Incidentally, I missed receiving your 2005 book -did you have a gap year?
With kindest regards,
Jean (Clayton) |

Hi Di
I just had to drop a line to let you know how fantastic 'The Valley' is to read. I just couldn't put it down. I have read several of your books, and until now I always felt 'Tears of the Moon' was my favourite, but now it is hard to decide between 'The Valley' and 'Tears of the Moon' as my favourite.
Please do keep up your excellent work and I'm looking forward to your next new book out.
Kind regards

I posted a note here in 2000 when I first moved to Dubai and was extremely impressed when Di wrote back to me. 7 years on I am still in Dubai. As your books come out around Christmas time my beautiful godmother back in Melbourne ensures that I keep up to date with the stories we both love, with a gift of one of "our books". When I sit down to read I always feel as though I am back in Oz. And now I have to wait till Christmas..... Thank you Di |

Hi Di have really enjoyed your recent book The Valley. I attended boarding school in Taree in 1967-68 and made alot of good friends which I still keep in contact with in Taree, alot of them from Wingham. While at boarding school we often went on walks with the nuns and saw quite alot of the beautiful area around Taree. A few years back I returned to Taree for a school reunion and found that Taree still holds a special place in my heart a beautiful peaceful place to both live and raise the family. Am looking foward to your next exciting book and very soon I hope, Thank you for your wonderful books so far. Regards Anne |

Hello,
I want to write that I love your books. I am an Australian living overseas and I do get very home sick, so each visit to Australia I buy as Many Australian films and Novels set in Australia as I can. Last year I came across your books in Big W. I bought as many as I could carry and have loved every bit of them. There is nothing like falling a sleep with a little bit of home running through your dreams. So thank you my days and nights are now less lonely and my nastalgia has eased.
I just wish I didn't have to wait a year to buy more. I have been back in France for a month and have read 3 of your books I only have 2 left to read which I am sure will go fast. |

Dear Di, Last week I finished reading the most wonderful story..."Tears of the Moon". The epic love story between Captain John Tyndall & Olivia Hennessy, their extraordinary lives, and their incredible love, kept me wanting more I couldn't put the book down! I absolutely adored this story and I believe for me it will be my all time favorite! I would love to know what the emblem/symbol of "Tears of the Moon" actually looks like in your minds eye, do you have any drawings? PS: Captain John Tyndall was played by Clarke Gable in my "minds-eye"! |

Di,
I've read most of your books and found them absolutely wonderful.
This morning at 2am I finished the final page of 'Last Mile From Home'.
I was in tears.
How you write a story of human nature at its best inspires me so much and gives me that faith in writing to do a similar thing. Thank you for writing your books and giving me hope.
I've written and published ten books. My website is www.patritter.com.au. The stories I have written have mainly been about the ups and downs in my life but after reading your books you have inspired me to write about everyday happenings involving people.
Thank you again for your fine writing.

Hi Di,
Unfortunately I have mislaid your email address.
You may recall that I made contact with you a coup[le of years ago regarding the Opal Jewellery Design Awards at Lightning Ridge.?
Doctor's waiting rooms are a great place for catching up on a little reading despite the fact that the mags are outdated.
This was a september ediion of Women's Weekly with an editorial re your latest book.
It has inspired me to make contact to see if you would be interested in attending this year's event (last week in July) as one of 3 on the judging panel.
The 2 other judges will be Dalan Hargrave, a Texan who is just delightful and his work is exquisite. He joined us in 2005 and was an instanr hit. He will be joined by gary Roskin,(Gemologist) and gem editor JCK magazine in America.
You would add a touch of glamour and of course are well known out here.
I thought I'd put the feelers out and we could go from there.
We'd love to have you and would appreciate your early consideration to enable us to progress this further.
All the very best.

What a pleasure is was to read The Valley as I holidayed at Manning Point. Being able to sit on the Manning River and read completely bought the book to life. One day we ventured through Wingham up to the Ellenborough Falls, beautiful country, still remote. My hat goes off to Isabella all those years ago. Reading your novels is always a holiday treat! |

Since my Husband dies I have found myself time to once again read. I have now read and enormously enjoyed all your purblished books, including the latest The Valley. My daughter has for 10 years lived in the Kimberley, and after reeading your books I feel I know it better than she does. On my visits I have found an empathy with the original owners of the land. Hi Di
Met you at the Sydney launch of The Valley. I was the last person to ask a question, asked you about yr contract pre writing 1 st book and what advise you would give other budding authors. Just letting you know my husband who thought your books were only "girly books" just finished Valley and really enjoyed it. He is 64 and a number of things in the book bought back interesing memories. He was surprised I even remembered "Empire Day".
Thanks for the yarn, now looking forward to your next offering. Must say the day of your launch was enjoyable, venue was great, but most impressive was you and your attitude to your audience and readers. It was nice to see you are down to earth and approachable. Thanks.

I first picked up one of your books to read on my trip home for the weekend. It was The Last Mile Home. I couldn't put it down and continued with several others, including Tears of the Moon, When the singing stops and more. I haven't had a chance to read all of them yet as I study but love my breaks when I can read them. I loved The Bay. When I opened the page to start reading I could relate straight away to the places. I grew up in Casino and so all the places were familiar as I often went to Bryon for the day as a teenager. Also travelling from Brisbane to Casino over the years I have passed the 'church' often. It really is some of the most beautiful places in the country. Also recently, I discovered that my aunt is a fan as well and now we swap books. It has helped us become closer and I am sharing my love of your books with others.
Can't wait for your next book. You make reading about Australia and life interesting. I enjoy it. |

Good evening,
Just had to tell you how much my daughter-in-law, Julie, loved receiving an email from you. To quote her, "How great is that!"
I have given Julie some of your books which she loves. She passes them on to her mother and sister who love them too. They would dearly love to visit Broome, have developed a fascination with many Australian destinations.
They don't find the books 'too Australian' and can't get enough of them.
I think other Americans would appreciate them just as much.
Thank you again for your response to Julie in Baltimore, MD.

Dear Di,
I'm 15 years old and I have read most of your books twice! You are my favourite author and I love reading about Australia's history and culture in a fiction form. My favourite book so far is Tears of the Moon, and I can't wait for your next book to come out... I am currently reading The Bay- I can't put it down!!! Thank you for creating such beautiful worlds for people to escape into. You always seem to become immersed in the lifestyle and surroundings. At a party recently I met Julie, who works for Pan Macmillan and was very jealous as she has met you! Hopefully someday i will meet you, thanks for all the great books, Carla |

Hi Di
I remember reading some of your books (can't read so well now) and also your visit to Broome as I worked at the Shire there and you came in one day.
I have since (3 years ago) suffered from 3 brain anueryisms and have since written my story. Many people simply die from one anueryism (66,000 in the USA each year!) so you would think there would be lots of people out there who would be interested in reading my story.
However, I don't seem able to get it published and I have also tried in the UK and the USA. I clearly do not seem to realise what I should do to achieve publication so I wonder if you could possibly help me?
I realise you are probably very busy so will understand perfectly if you can't fit me in. However, if there is any information or assistance you could provide I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you for listening. |

Just thought I'd let you know how much I enjoyed The Bay, not knowing it was Byron but you describe it so vividly I could see the markets, streets and the people.
As a frustrated writer myself on L plates I go to inspirational spiritual stuff learn some then go back to where I left off. I thought this book and your afterword about your journey there gave me hope in many ways. I was of the opinion that you might be too conceited but that last peice about learning to like your self then every thing else falls into place was real, something I am presently at. At 50 I am finding just what you were lucky to find earlier. Hay everyones journey is different but all leading to the same place. Bravo. |

Di, I just wanted to congratulate you on another wonderful book that you have written. The first book i read, Barra Creek, i came across it accidently in a bookstore and had to buy it, i stayed up all night reading it (i couldnt put it down). Since then, i have read 5 more of your books and am half way through the 6th. I still find myself staying up until 4am sometimes reading your books!!! You have captured the joys and the hardships of Australians brilliantly. Most of your books bring tears to my eyes at some point in them. So thank you Di, for bringing us amazing books to read, please keep them coming!! |

I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying reading Heart of the Dreaming. It sends such beautiful messages, that relates to my personal experiences, and often it has brought tears to my eyes. I want to thank you for writing such an amaxing book, and I am desperately trying to find the sequel Follow the Morning Star. I hope that one day I will succeed in expressing my ideas in such a beautiful and sensitive way.
Thankyou, Alex (F,16) |

Hi Di,
I was given one of your books - Blaze - as a Christmas present last year and have become an avid reader. I now own and have read all of your books except The Last Mile Home! I love that your books are based in Australia - it makes the stories more alive to me; and I have thoroughly enjoyed the Aboriginal stream that has gone through several of your books. The Last Mile Home will fall to me soon I know; and I can't wait for you to release more work.
Thanks for many enjoyable hours of escape!
Carole.

Hi Di, by request I have given my mum several of your books over the years as you are her fav author. Having not read them myself, when I visit her in NSW annually, I have begun reading them and find if I have not finished, I must bring the book back to Perth to complete. Mum won't part with them easily, so I then must post them back asap.so they don't get lost in my bookcase.
I am loving them, and am now harrassing my library for Kimberley Sun, having enjoyed Tears of the Moon (mum's fav.)so much. Am recommending all your books (I have now read 3)to my friends as such a joy to read. Thanks for writing so many beautifully descriptive books. |

Whilst staying with friends in Victoria last year and having taken nothing to read, I picked up a book and before I finished reading the back cover, knew that I had finally found an author who wrote books the way I write letters/emails. . no details left out.
"Tears of the Moon" is an extraordinary book, and like other readers, feel that I was in the story, and Broome is definitely on my "most want to visit" wish list. I now have my own copy along with a collection of 5 others so far.
Thank you so much for sharing your life with us in the form of your novels.
I will be looking forward to every Christmas from now on, and so will some other friends, now that I have added your books to my 'gift' shopping list.

Having travelled around this big country, stopping at places like Wyndham, Derby etc and staying a while in Broome, I actually felt like I was living the book, Kimberley Sun. Tears of the Moon inspired a visit to Broome initially, and after having stayed there I can connect with the feeling and love of the area. Being an artist I raved about the colours of the Kimberley, but one really has to experience to appreciate the region. |

Di, I have found two of your books in our local library (Tears of the Moon & When the Singing Stops) and have become totally enthralled with your writing. You made me feel as if I could touch the leaves of the plants and feel the spray of the waterfall! I have searched all of Ohio's libraries and cannot find any more of your books to borrow. I will have to try to remedy this and encourage them to purchase more of your books. Thank you for your wonderful and enthralling stories. |
