Hi Di I have become a huge fan of your books. As an only child for 14 years and living in the country I spent my evenings developing a passion for reading. Reading novels came to a halt with children and years of study and long hours at work. My creative son started my book world again with an audio book for Christmas a couple of years ago "The Silent Country" and I was hooked. I have listened to 8 of your books and have read 2 including Opal Desert. Your style is stimulating and refreshing with the mystery you weave into your stories. It is also very obvious that you put a huge amount of r search into each story so we are also lucky to gain some factual information with each book too. The Reef reminded my of some great times I had on Heron Island on the reef just wondering if this is where this story was based. Keep writing your brilliant books. Thank you.
Hello Di As part of the celebrations for The National Year of Reading our libraries (Whitsunday Regional Libraries) have decide to feature an author each month starting in March. As you are one of our most popular authors (your new books are eagerly anticipated and heavily reserved) we have chosen you for our first feature. Our display will feature a selection of your books plus some of your biographical information etc. I am sure it will be a popular display. Regards Nadine
Hi Di Im not one to write email like this but first I would like to say that I have loved reading all your books and only one to read The Last Rose of Summer. My favourite as hard as it is to pick would be The Valley. If you are looking for another beautiful place to write about I feel that you could write about the place that I live in at the moment. Eungella in Queensland which includes the beautiful Finch Hatton Gorge and old Gold Digging stories. Don't know why I wrote this email just felt that I must. Can't wait for the next book Thanks
Dear Ms. Morrissey As a resident of Wingham I was shocked by the speed at which the old Stables formerly at the Wingham Hotel were demolished. And like many believed the Councils reason that the structure was unsafe. However after talking to a friend of mine who works in the media it would seem that perhaps this was not true. And I am led to believe that you discovered this to be the case. If this is true and the Council acted incorrectly is there no Government Instrumentality that can be consulted?. Ted Wheeler
Dear Di I recently read The Songmaster which I really enjoyed . However Tears of the Moon moved me to tears when I read it last year. Thank you for writing it in such detail about Broome - which is a special place for me. If you have time in the next two weeks and are interested enough to pop over to Perth The Black Swan Theatre Company is showing the White Divers Of Broome an epic play inspired by the book of the same name written by playwright Hillary Bell. There are many common themes and images that you would enjoy seeing . It is a theatrical beauty with the stage space creating the underwater world of deep sea divers as well as the 1912 Broome pearling community on land. Best Wishes with your writing. Kind Regards Jenni
Hello Di I just read an article about you in the HS liftout mag and I loved the shawl which was pictured that you had made in Burma. I was recently in Burma travelling around and I LOVED the country such a beautiful place and such gorgeous people very poor but happy and industrious. I'm keen to read your book about Burma - what is it called please? I also visited the Freedom Party HQ whilst there is a lot of support amongst the people so let's hope the elections in April go well. Many thanks. Dawn
I have just finished reading "Barra Creek" which I thoroughly enjoyed but I heard there was a movie made based on the book. Is this correct?
Hi Di Enjoyed the article in the Herald/Sun home mag The Valley and Last mile were my favourites but I will endeavour to purchase The Opal Desert. Would it be presumptuous of me to ask where you purchased the lovely cane outdoor setting in the Cover shot???Thanks for the many good reads. Cheers ...........Ruth Farrar

Dear Di I caught the end of an interview with you on ABC radio tonight (25th January 2012.)I thought you may be interested in some brief thoughts on mining that I wrote last year. I have not yet read any of your writing but since listening to you I am looking forward to doing so. Rodney Spence
Thank you Di for your wonderful books. I've enjoyed them all but I particularly loved The Opal Dessert. If my husband was in better health I'd have wanted to go to the opal fields right away you made it all so real for me. Thank you Glen
The Opal Desert! Great Book would make a greater movie. The lady that stars in Harry's Law would make the perfect Shirley. Your books are fabulous Di I have enjoyed every one Thank You
I have read all your books and have just purchased "The Opal Desert” If it anything like the rest of your books it will be fantastic
Do you sell your books as ebooks? If so where?
I just wanted to say your book is oh so true to me and tells a lot of my life I’m in England and loved your book opal desert thank you for such an amazing story
Hi Di I have just enjoyed reading The Opal Desert! The book is a delight however the greatest pleasure for me was seeing Len Cram's name in the Acknowledgements!!!Len was a long-time friend of my late father Dave Grimmond. Dad loved his opal mining and my 1st trip underground was at age 3 yrs. old in 1967. I was too young to climb down the ladder so Dad out my in a vinyl tool bag tied a rope around the handles gave me a torch and lowered me down the shaft. I still recall shining the torch around looking for opal on the way down. I wasn’t scared at all well if I was I don’t remember it. Dad ha d 2 claims at Grawin for many years. He built a fantastic hut on one and did a little mining there too. Our main mine was on Hammonds Hill if I can recall correctly. Dad did OK.. paid for his trips paid for his opal cutting equipment and made a bit on the side too. Along the way Dad met people like Len Cram. We stayed at Len’s farm once again when I was young. I don’t believe it’s the same place Len lives now. I have a lot of the stunning books Len published thanks to Dad including one published after Dad died 10 years ago in which Len signed in my Dad’s memory....Your book brought back many wonderful memories for me.... you really picked up on the ‘additive’ nature of opal mining. We always told friends that once you laid in bed seeing flashed of colour as you try to go to sleep you know you are hooked. Most of the friends who visited Dad’s mine where hooked the 1st day Its been about 15 yrs. now since Dad sold his mine.... sadly he got too sick to keep going up there and passed away 5 years after he sold it. The mine and hut are now owned by a friend of Dad’s sister. Thanks once again for bringing back so many memories !Kind Regards Jo-Anne Adam
Years ago I read one of Di's books about a large old house and set on the Parramatta River I think. Could you let me know the title of the book from that brief description. Thank you.
Hi Di I have just finished listening to your book "The Bay” as an audio book. I still have 12 of your books to read or listen to. I love your writing and the underlying mysteries that lay beneath each story. I listen to the audio books as I drive which I do a lot of within 2-3 hours radius of Adelaide. I am trying to put my travels into a written form so I am inspired by your story. Keep writing. My next audio story is "The Opal Desert"" Thanks for your books - Love them.
Hi Di It has been stated that you have written 20 books but can only find 19 of them can you please tell me the name of the 20th book and when it was written. Thank you regards Sandra
Hello Di I have just finished reading Heart of the dreaming loved it. Being a boy born in Maitland now living in Brisbane along with the ABC's Australia All Over your books take me to a place I love to be. I am 66 years of age. I have read ten of your books some purchased some from the Library at Capalaba. Barra Creek was the first I have read it twice as I have with The Heart of the Dreaming. Hopefully I will start another of your books this week. I am not an avid reader of books generally it is just that your books find a place inside me that no one else can. Fond regards Colin Wright
Hi Di I am a writer and prolific reader of business and law related novels and hence my favourite authors are John Grisham Scott Turow Mark Gimenez and Michael Connelly. They are my favourites but my reading is not confined to that genre or those authors and I recently read one of your novels for the first time. It was The Plantation which I thoroughly enjoyed. You are very descriptive and I mentioned to my partner that there is a Steinbeck quality to your writing but she disagreed although saying that you have a wonderful 'unique' way with words. I totally agree with her assessment. I do not profess to be in your league but my fourth novel Dirty Fracking Business is due for release this March. In one part I devoted five pages to describing a restaurant in a small country town in which a significant event occurs. It was descriptive and in my biased view was quite well written but by the time my publisher and editor had finished with it was six lines. Unlike you I am just grateful to be published and virtually have no say when my writing is hacked. The Plantation certainly has me hooked and while I probably won't read your total collection I will read your latest novels. I'm looking forward to The Opal Desert. Cheers Peter Ralph
Hi Di Have just finished your latest book The Opal Desert. Awesome as usual. Even went and got the atlas to see where Lightening Ridge and Opal Lake were. Would love to travel in this area but my all-time favourite would have to be "Tears of the Moon" my first read of yours and one day hope to travel to Broome.

Hi Di My mother and I are both avid readers of your books. My Mother (Shirley – 87yrs old) was disappointed as she did not get to meet you when you were in Broken Hill last year. Shirley was born in Broken Hill and grew up on a cattle station outside of Tibooburra. Her father owned both the hotels in Tibooburra as well as the cattle station. Shirley is eager to share her vast amount of knowledge and history if you are interested in talking with her. Kind regards Jayne Miller
I don't understand why you don't include your father's first name and your maiden surname in your "About Di" or your mother's full name even though you say how talented she was. I absolutely love your books. My kids (grown-up) usually give me your latest book as a Christmas present. I look forward to them as they are so well-written enjoyable and the background settings are very accurate as I've been to some of the places where stories are set. Keep up the good work. Regards Valerie
I absolutely love your books. I have 10 of them and treasure them. I just purchased The Opal Desert and have about thirty pages to go in The Plantation. Since I have been to Kalimantan/Borneo four times now I really feel like I am there when I read your book. I have also been to Malaysia but a very long time ago. So you have inspired me to return. I travel to Bali twice a year and speak Indonesian but I am now interested in a return to Malaysia. I sponsor a couple of orangutans and really promote this in my class (I am a teacher). Your books are wonderful. Jenny
Started The Opal Desert yesterday finished it the following afternoon loved it. Thank you for your wonderful books. Regards Linda
Hi Di I received The Opal Desert novel as a xmas gift from my daughter law it's my very first book I’ve ever read from you and I was very impressed especially the way you tell the story about the friends you don't go on and on about their back ground that's were sometimes it gets boring and lose the main characters I enjoyed your hard work and looking forward as being your fan thank you ..........28-12-11 regards Mary
Happy New Year Di & family. Just read Barra Creek what a great book . And I also very much enjoyed Opal Desert. Especially just having spent 6 weeks out Longreach & Lightning Ridge. What enjoyment you give to thousands of people. I nearly have all your collection now just 2 books to get and I have the set. A Happy Healthy 2012 to you & your family Wendy
I have just read your first book (heart of the dreaming) and loved it My aim was to read each one of your books in the order that they were written but I will have to cheat a little and read your third book because I need to know what happens to Queenie and TR !! Then I will go back to my original plan and read the rest of your books in their written order. Thank you so much for giving all your readers a chance to go off into another world for a little while each day.
Received your book "The Opal Desert" for Christmas and finished reading it today Boxing Day. Just loved it. Also we have a son named Milton and when he was born many people asked where we found his name but is more common than people thought. I have most of your books and love stories of out back Australia. Daphne Smith
Please make the opal desert available on kindle for your USA fans...thanks....
Have just finished your book The Silent Country. Have lived in Darwin 46 years. Wondering about some of your characters. Before retiring I was a library technician and in the 1990's the head of the whole NT Library System was Collette McCool - wonder if you ever met her or whether your "Collette” was imagination. Also your Jim from the Darwin paper. We also had a character at the NT News called Jim Bowditch - loved his drink and smokes!. Coincidence? NT News is only a few steps from where the old Darwin Hotel was. My husband and I actually lived in Kings Cross - 5 minutes to our work mainly business people living there - far different to Kings Cross at weekends. My husband and I drove to Darwin in an old Zephyr ute towing an old bondwood Caravan. Took the kids camping most weekends to billabongs and immediately recognised Cahill's Crossing. Loved your book and you obviously enjoyed your time in Darwin doing your research. Yep that place does get to you. I live in Palmerston a new city population 30000 and 11 miles south of Darwin (only 10 minutes from Howard Springs!!) Good luck with your next books.! Cheers Margaret
Hi Di Have just finished reading The Opal Desert and as usual couldn't put it down. Another fantastic story from fantastic woman and writer. I am now able to get your books and read on the Kindle app on the I pad my son gave me for Mother's day. It's wonderful to be able to get and read your books on kindle without any hassle or having to badger my Australian friend to send them to me. Once again Thanks for the wonderful story. Have a Happy Christmas and q prolific and healthy New Year. Love Gloria x
Hi Di Just wanted to congratulate you on another wonderful book. I have just read The Opal Desert and loved it...looking forward to your next one. Keep up the great work Kind regards Tanya Stewart
Hello Di. Thank you so much for your lovely books. I only discovered them when last year I was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy treatment. For each round I found that on those really yucky days I could immerse myself in one of your books and forget the nausea. Yet when the fatigue kicked in I could put the book down and have a snooze in the chair. It was much better than either watching TV or lying in bed. Sadly my cancer has returned so one again I have stocked up on your books. Thank goodness there are 20 of them so about 14 to go. I left your latest one on the Opal fields with a friend in USA. I think she has now become hooked. Please keep up your wonderful writing that Australians can relate to. Jeannette Jolley Harrietville Victoria
Di I am your biggest fan and I was wondering if you could send me a signed picture of yourself It would make my reading more enjoyable I would be ever so grateful
My mother loves reading all your books that you have written. she cannot wait for the next one.
Hi Di I have lived in Lightning Ridge for 3 years and have established myself as an artist here after 25 years teaching in NSW public education.. I am currently reading Opal Desert which has been well promoted here and all I meet seem to have a copy! I relate so much to the story its uncanny I feel like I am reading a lot of parallel experiences of how and what influences the opal fields has had on my life and living the dream of being an artist. Your book illuminates some heartfelt reasons why women come to the opal fields and stay it appears that emotions are enhanced by the tranquil and beautiful environment where you can be yourself and cross boundaries of being without social structures and constraints. A more soulful experience on many levels. I would love to tell you if time and space permitted how I have found myself here and the amazing experiences and opportunities as an artist...I paint intuitively about the landscape and opal and the energies of light and colour reflect in my work and unique subject matter. After my first exhibition Imago (09). I was invited to exhibit at Parliament House Sydney! I have had 3 Exhibits since most recently at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. My next Exhibition will be opened on the 14th April 2012 will be exhibited at The Ridge ArtSpace in Lightning Ridge the second week after Easter and still during the school holidays. I especially wish to invite you to open the exhibition and to visit some of the wonderful events over the Easter vacation held in Lightning Ridge. Your visit would be so welcomed and valued by the local and wider community. I know that to ask to seek and explore unknown territory is to discover the richest experiences. I hope this email is received by you and I look forward to much anticipated and favourable response! Thank you for your inspirational book Opal Desert. Warm Regards - Ann. Ann Golledge Artist
Hello Di I would like to commend you on all your novels. I love them all!!The stories of Australia are so wonderful you draw us in within the first 2 pages making it difficult to put the book down until the final page! I feel I have learned much about our great country-the best on this planet. Thank you for hours of pleasure! Regards Therese
Just loved The Opal Desert another great book!!
Hello Di Can you please let me know why your great books are not available in Large Print not sure if it's a publishing decision or that of the author? Many thanks Ann
Thankyou Di for the many many hours of enjoyment. Your books teach and inspire me to travel this beautiful country I was very thankful to be born in. Loved the Valley in particular as my family were pioneers there. The Opal Desert finished to soon. Thank you again PS write a little faster please I'm addicted hahaha Warm regard Lee-Anne
Hi Di Just wanted to say I have now finished reading all of your books (other than the opal desert) and how much I adored them. I haven't been able to put them down. I have now passed them all onto my Mum and she is also loving them. Thank You so much for the many hours of reading. Can't wait to read The Opal Desert. JanJan
Dear Di I loved reading all your books but I think Tears of the Moon is still my favourite there was something rather special about the story line. I enjoyed your interview with Jennifer on Monday night I thought what you said about your Dad touched my heart as I didn't know who my father was until I was about 10yrs old. I have come to the realization that I will always have a yearning in my heart for that special childhood bond. This is the first time I have ever said how much I missed my father as a little girl & a big one. Before closing you mentioned that you live in NSW and a program came on the next night about a group of people who are trying to stop coal mining in Bowral NSW apparently a Nth Korean company bought a farmers land saying it was for grazing cattle and now they are going to mine it for coal. I am so worried about what is happening to our beautiful country. About this however people have formed a protest group and are trying to stop these overseas companies walking in on peoples land & mining it for its black gold. I'm concerned about the whole issue on mining. And the land grab that’s going on not only in Bowral but other places as well let’s hope that somebody will start an action group to make our pollies more aware that we have great concerns over overseas companies taking our land. Sincerely L
HELLOI have Read Barra Creek and The Plantation and am now hooked on your style of writing. I would like to read all of your books but in chronological order. Is the date of publication indicated in the 'sliding' list of books on your web site? REGARDS - Glenda Paterson
Dear Di So far I have read 10 of your wonderful books. I find them very inspiring and leave me with a feeling of determination to do something more and sometime a feeling which I find I cannot explain to myself let alone put into words. I have just encouraged my husband to read his first Di Morrissey book "Heart of the Dreaming" which I am sure he will enjoy. Looking forward to reading more of your magical stories. Best wishes Karen xx
Hi Di Watched an interview of yours with Jennifer Byrne on ABC-1 last night. I was inspired and encouraged! I'm where you were at before Thomas Keneally put you in the know! I have had a strong urge to write for a very long time yet when I sit down to do it nothing comes and I feel my life is sooo crowded I don't have the space for it! It's absolutely tormenting! I would love to know what got you writing in your crowded life as it may just do it for me too?? Any other helpful insights into a writing life would also be welcome. I hope you don't mind me asking you this but I would dearly love to get going asap! Warm regards Adrienne
Hello Di - I watched your session with Jennifer Byrne last night and realised from your discussion that you must have attended Narrabeen Girls High a few years after I did. A quick Google just confirmed that via an earlier message to you from Pat Rayne. I had a fellow feeling for some of your comments last night. I can't believe that until recently I'd never read any of your books. That changed about 3 weeks ago when I read 'Tears of the Moon' selected because it was about Broome and about family history. Broome is a place I'd like to visit one day because some of my intrepid pioneering forebears attempted to settle at Camden Sound in the 1860s but the settlement failed for the sorts of reasons made obvious in your book. You certainly 'hooked' me into your story very quickly and now I'd like to read more of your books. Thanks for a great read. You might be interested to know that I'm now a writer too of family histories after a career in the finance sector and about 15 years ago I wrote a book about the lives of my fellow classmates at Narrabeen Girls High entitled 'Brainboxes'. See my website www.louisewilson.com.au for more details.
Hi Di. I have just finished reading The Opal Desert. Wow what a brilliant book. We have not long returned home from Long Reach Lightning Ridge and we went out to the Pub In The Scrub. Had lunch in the pub Grawin we thoroughly enjoyed our trip out there. Lightning Ridge was on my bucket list so I ticked that off now. I just wanted to let u know how much I enjoyed that book. I have read a lot of yours but I particularly enjoyed that one. I felt like I was back there. Loved it thank you Di. I will keep track of you I would love to meet you. Happy writing Mrs Wendy Alcorn. Bonnells Bay N.S.W. 65yrs
I have just obtained opal desert and must thank you for writing another wonderful story. I have your books except one which went missing in the earthquake when I lost my house the "last mile home" but am glad to say the others are in excellent condition With life here difficult with daily quakes I can forget them while enjoying your lovely stories (my favourite was "the islands" having spent holidays with my late husband I can picture it all so well with your wonderful description of Honolulu Your books have brought so much back to me with memories of Broome Darwin and Katherine Please keep writing Dee
Hello Di! I'm writing to you as I have a question to ask... have you heard of the story of Molly Morgan who was a twice transported convict? I am currently attempting to write a screenplay about her life... long process! I know this may seem like a strange random request but I'm hoping that I might be able to seek your assistance/feedback with crafting this story. I'm very open to the idea of collaborating with someone too it's such a big undertaking. I've actually been praying for help and encouragement as to whether to continue with it - it was actually my Mum's idea that I contact you .. . and well I'm finally taking the risk here! Anthony Buckley gave me feedback on the synopsis quite a while back and gave me some advice and contacts for when it's eventually completed. so that has been a kind of confirmation that I'm on the right track so far...I hope to hear from you Warmest wishes Heather
Hi Di Just wanted to know are you going to tour Brisbane anytime in the near future? I probably missed out but I can't see any Queensland dates on your tour. Also do you know when Opal Desert will be available on Kindle? Thanks Gail
Hi Di I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you so much for dropping off a signed copy of your book to me at Canberra Hospital. I had a smile a mile wide plastered to my face for the rest of the day! I had a day off today and have started reading your book - I'm loving it - a great read and I've already had a couple of cries - first when Milton died and then again when Glynis died. I have to say that I am already looking forward to working my way through your back catalogue! Anyway it was a pleasure to have met you and thank you again for being so thoughtful to drop the book off for me. Please look after yourself and stay well. I hope everything is ok for your daughter. All the best Clare (nurse at Canberra Hospital Emergency Department!)
Hi Di Are you doing any signings in the Northern Rivers area before Christmas? I would like to get your new book signed for my wife and my mother they are both fans. Regards David Kirk.
Hello Di Thank you for another beautiful novel - have just finished 'The Opal Desert' a great story and one which came along at a significant point in my life - just retired and busy reflecting on what I have or haven't achieved and where my life will go from here. Your story of Shirley Kerrie and Anna was the perfect form of inspiration to help me deal with the next stage of my life. Thank you again so many passages in this story left this reader quite emotional and reflective from Bill Kirk Sunbury [Victoria]
Hi Di I was in the audience last night (Thursday 3rd November) when you spoke about your writing. I don't for a minute expect you to remember ME but you did ask about my name Lannah. I explained it's pronunciation and origins. It's always been a conversation starter. Usually I would not try to establish contact with someone such as yourself a well-established and very successful author and it is not about your writing that I am writing now. Your stories have always fascinated me more than anything due to their outback settings. I am from the outback . I was raised on a sheep station in South Australia...in those days it was in complete and absolute isolation. Hearing a little about your personal story last night (and having been previously unaware of that) and having this in common with you I decided I would try to contact you and while I do not seriously expect a response I would absolutely love to hear more about your time and life in the country. A couple of years ago I had a book self-published (it was for private distribution only so I did not even consider any of the mainstream publishers although a couple have now shown interest). Called 'The Sawers From Pitcairn' it is actually written by my father and traces the early lives of two of our ancestors from our seat in Stirling Scotland through their movements on various sheep stations in Australia before settling on the station which is remains in our family today. I do hold an absolute fascination for successful Australians who have lived or do live in the country/outback of this wonderful nation of ours. I wish you all the best for the future Di. Keep writing as I will. With warmest regards Lannah Sawers-Diggins
Kia Orana Di hope you remember me I'm in Brisbane with Janelle and family for a few weeks before returning to Rarotonga Would love to chat if you return before I leave on 30 the.best regards Sonya
You have 18 books for sale but your latest book is your 20th book written in 20 years. What are the titles of the missing two books? Thanks Rosemary

My husband is a truckie and loves listening to your stories. Great interviews on the tele this week. You are a beautiful person and it was great to watch you in in own home. Thank you for letting us in.

Hi Di There are a lot of things I love about this time of year warm sunny days daylight savings jacarandas starting to bloom and the release of your latest books which my kids always buy me for xmas. The hardest part is having to wait till after xmas to finally get to read it. However I have a friend and neighbour who is turning 70 in December (who also loves your books) and was wondering if you would mind signing a copy of The Opal Desert for her as a unique birthday present. Jackie and her partner Ron have travelled extensively throughout Australia and O/S and we enjoy talking about your books especially the ones that are about places we have been to. They have recently returned from The Canning Stock Route. Please let me know if this is possible and how to go about it. Regards Julie Ede
Hi Di I am a fellow writer and have read a number of your books over the years and absolutely fell in love with your creations Heart of the Dreaming and Follow the Morning Star. I have just written my second novel and it is the first novel I will be publishing and was just enquiring as to whether you would do me the greatest pleasure in reviewing it for me. My aim like all authors is to entertain and in my honest opinion who better to entertain that the authors who have inspired me and entertained me over the years. I hope to hear back from you and wish you all the best in your career though I hardly think you need it. Kind regards Your faithful reader and fellow writer Whitney
Hello there Ms Morrissey I just finished watching you on Better Homes and Gardens and I thought it was a good time to contact you. I am a huge fan of your books it is so refreshing to read about Australian places written in the local vernacular etc. My daughter is 24 years of age a member of the "dreaded Gen Y" brigade and has never shared the family's love affair with books until recently. I left 2 of your books at her place on the Sunshine Coast a few months ago due to luggage restrictions she told me a couple of weeks ago that she had read both of them and asked me if I had any more of you books! I was stunned and gobsmacked as the only books she had previously read were the Goosebumps series in primary school. I was delighted and loaded her up with the rest of your books I had. Now I feel obliged to buy even more of your titles so we can share the stories together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for lighting the flame of interest in my daughter and please keep the books coming. Regards from an avid reader and ardent admirer Kathy
Wow Di you write excellent books. I am building up my collection of your books which I have taken to and have been passing them on to my daughters and granddaughters to read. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment and educational reading. I specially enjoy the books written about places I have travelled to. Looking forward to your newest book coming out but I guess I will have to wait until my next holiday in Australia to purchase it. Thanks and please keep writing more books.
hi Di Morrissey. I watched your episode on Better homes and gardens and I absolutely love your place. It was pretty and different. I also like your idea of expanding your studio. Before I saw you I was stuck wondering what I wanted to do when I grow up and now I am thinking about becoming a writer. Although I am not all that great at English at the moment I still have a long way to go before I become like you so wish me all the best. I am deciding on starting to read your books though I don't know where to start. Could you please recommend me a book of yours to start reading. my email address is bookfan101 @hotmail.com Also could you give me some tips for being a good writer? l know I am asking for too much but I really like reading and writing. Btw. good luck for your new book

Hello Di what a pleasure it is to finally be able to thank you for so many years of wonderful reading I have experienced since finding you. At 35yrs of age I was given my first novel by a girl friend The Heart of The Dreaming. I loved every page & have since read 16 of your 18 books. I am not good at finding the time to just sit & read during the day so I always save my novels for when we are on holiday & because of your books our first ever holiday in main land Australia was in Broome! where it all started. Since then we have travelled all over this amazing country & I have been l ucky enough to say I have read at least one novel of yours every trip. I look forward to The Opal Desert which I'm proud to say will be read in my home country of New Zealand I can't wait for both experiences. Again thank you Di - you are my inspriration
Is it true that only 3 books not including the bay and heart of dreaming are translated into German ?I'm so sorry if that is true because I love Your books but my wife couldn't read it she knows English too little.
Hello. My mother has to listen to audio books because shes nearly blind. We have found your books in our town library & find them very interesting.
Looking forward to your book "The Opal Desert" coming out. I am having withdrawal symptoms and have to pace myself reading them otherwise I have finished it in a couple of days. I have never read a book that can transport you into the story so that you feel as if you are there and you have done that. Thank you.
Kind Regards
Belinda
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your books. As an author myself (POW 921) I appreciate how much work it takes to write a book. Reading your stories is effortless as you draw the reader in. I am in the middle of Last Rose of Summer right now and breathless at how the interactions of all the characters will resolve in the end. Loved Tears of the Moon Blaze The Bay The Reef -- all great books. To be honest someone gave me The Reef and I almost didn't read it. But I had time on my hands after a knee replacement operation. Couldn't put down the book and then went out and got more. I am looking for Heart of the Dreaming as I have heard rave reviews about it too. Di you have given me a lot of pleasure. Many thanks and keep writing.
I have read every one of your books - and just love them all. Looking forward to Opal Desert.
I have just been re-reading your book 'The Valley' and was wondering if the 'Richards' that are in your book are real life or fictitious? If they are real life could you let me know how to discover more about them. My dad is a "Richards" and his family come from the Manning Valley.Thank you
I have just finished reading The Plantation and loved it I looked at the front inside and back inside covers and realised that I actually have read all of the 18 books mentioned I am looking forward to your next release.Keep up the good work.
I have enjoyed every book of yours and have met you at the Marion CulturalCentre and am looking forward to your new release and meeting you again in November at the same venue. I have all of your books and cannot wait for the new one - Carmel
Hi Di - I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how much I enjoy your books. I started reading your books about 6 months ago and have read over half of them now. I always know your stories are going to take me to another world which I will thoroughly enjoy. I'm an American living in Australia. I work hard and it's wonderful to have a bit of escapism that I can enjoy at my own pace. You are truely gifted. Thank you for sharing that gift with your readers! All the very best, Deb
Hi Di - We read "The Islands" after we booked our cruise back to Sydney from Honolulu. This inspired us to book a week in Oahu and four nights on Kaua'i. In Waikiki we stayed very close to the Royal Hawaiian and visited many of the places you mentioned in the book. We had a beer at Duke's and saw many hula and island music performances. We are currently on Kaua'i and just love it. In fact it's been bit of a pilgramage visiting the many places you mention in the book in particular Hanapepe which a real artistic place as you describe. This afternoon we are off to Hanalei as it's just a short distance from Ka'apa were we are staying at Plantation Hale. It's delightful having such a clear focus for our travels and thank you for your hours of dedicated research and writing. In our daily lives we live in Canberra and work in the caring professions. We travel within and outside Australia as much as possible. Our little getaway is on the South Coast of NSW. We have found the Hawaiian experience full of music with many impromtu performances. Julie even bought a high end ukulele for learning back home. This is to accompany her 12 string guitar and mandolin! Anyway thanks for the inspiration and the now the fine memories. Would love to hear back from you if you have a chance. Regards, Julie and Michael in Kaua'i.
I've just read your latest book The Plantation. As a mum of young twins I need time to myself sometimes and this book filled my 'me time' with beautifully. I havent read a book like it before and thoroughly enjoyed it as the story of the family unfolded!
Hello Di - I don't know if you remember me much. You kindly let me stay at your home with Austin Christmas and I have to say you left me with a lot of inspiration. You see my whole life all i have wanted is to prove that even though we live in a chaotic world we are completely surrounded by beauty. My heart has been broken many times from watching people fail to understand my message yet I am not ready to fail. I have found that through writing people seem to understand that part of me more and through that realization i have changed my best friends and a homeless mans view on life. Now I have a deep set love of literature and have started the process of planning my own novel. Problem is I have no idea how. I was hoping you could give some advice or some pointers as to how to plot it all out. I have a million and one ideas and know my characters well. But I have to say it is causing me some anxiety not knowing how to create it into the vision i have in my head. I also have no idea how to get a book published and what to expect. If you have any advice at all i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Hi Di - Thank you for your beautiful books. I started with the Islands Followed by barra creek and the valley. I just started with the songmaster. I'm born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia almost a year ago. What I love about your books is that they tell me about the Australian culture. The other thing I love is I can read them. It is exactly my level of English! It helps me to improve my English in a very exciting way. I learned things like: "I could murder one of Claude's sangers."( the valley). I love the stories! I'm glad there is so much more to read with your name on it. Keep writing as long as you enjoy it
Hi Di this is your number one fan again. I am really looking forward to your new book release next month. Till next time take care. Wendyjo from Murray Bridge

Hi Di would just like to let you know i absolutely love your books. I have everyone of them including the childrens one you wrote. I am looking forward to your new book release on 25th october. Keep up the good work. Your no. 1 fan Wendyjo
Dear Di I have just read The Plantation and thought you captured the lanscape very well. As the first Australian living in Tanjong Malim 15 minutes away from Slim River and a reader who was at St Marys Church in KL the day I read the book it was very an accurate portrayal of life in Malaysia. Life here today though is different. Environmental issues have taken a back seat to race and religion which again is reshaping the country. I look forward to knowing where the setting is for your next book. The Islands was released just before I travelled to Hawaii so it really is Life Imitating Art. By the way The Plantation is ONLY avaialble in KL at Kinokuniya KLCC in the Asian Fiction section.
Having just read your article in the Manning Times today (29th July) about the demolition of the stables at Wingham I felt I had to leave a message of congratulations. Taking on the GTC is no mean feat as we have had numerous dealings with them trying to protect the natural environment especially at Redhead Hallidays Point. It is amazing that there is now no local member on Council who even considers history or the natural environment as a priority. Unfortunately developers with the law firms behind them carry the most clout but I thank you so much for taking a stand against the GTC. It is a sh ame that we are dictated to by Councils (who are there for their own greed) with not much education behind them so they are easily bought. Anyway enough of my ramblings I just wanted to say a big "thank you"from our area and may we keep on trying bit by bit to work our magic.Ann Ryall PS Read most of your books.
I really enjoyed "The Silent Country" for two reasons:(1) intrinsically (2) Because it may give me some clues as to where is the final resting place of the White Scout car that my father the late Roderic Sydney Fackerell had transformed into a comfortable 4WD camper waggon but had to sell to some German speaking film-makers when he was in the last stage of his Motor Neuron Disease. On both sides of the bonnet it has USA63856..
Hi Di just want to thank you for your wonderful books. I have all of your books including your children's one. I also went to see you when you came to my hometown of Murray Bridge.Looking forward to your next book. Take care. An avid fan Wendy
Di Hi Just wanted to drop a note I live in Harrington so despite never having met you feel like a neighbour! Just read yet another of your novels : Tears of the Moon...despite so many great characters meeting such untimely deaths in the one social circle this was a genuine favourite of mine..it took me to a time and place of romance and a simple tiem when lifes pleasures where easily measured despite hardships and a lack of technology.Well written as always and the true test of a good novel is one becomes as one with the main character.Thank you....Oh ..is it strange that a bloke would like your novels??? mmmm
Hi Di just wondering when your next book will be on the shelves my friend Gina has read all your books but still looks for the next one even if you just write them for her you will keep me happy we call gina the book whisperer.thanks for such wonderful books.cheers sam
Hello Di A friend tells me there is a sequel to or before The Plantation. Is that correct. Thanks for your time. Joy
I am so glad I discovered your books. I have enjoyed each one by way of listening to them on audio. This is because I am unable to read for long because of a chronic pain illness. I love the themes and characters and am inspired to visit places like Broome the Kimberleys and the Northern Territory when I am well enough. I have also gained a greater insight and into our Aboriginal people. Kate Hood is a brilliant reader and I so appreciate her work in putting your stories into voice. Thank you so much for sharing your gift of storytelling and keep writing.

The Plantation was an awseome to read couldnt put it down have have enjoyed all your books was wondering if any new releases are coming out soon cheers lisa
Hi Di I have just finished reading "The Valley" what an incredible story I loved it. I really love how you have the characters intertwined. From the older days to now. Just wanted to let you know how you have inspired me to get out my paintbrushes once again. I live in the Northern Rivers, Evans Head & have 5 acres we are surrounded by gum trees & lots of native life. We moved here from Sydney a number of years ago & love it here. Yes I have read "The Bay" & recognised lots of places, "The Reef", "Heart of the Dreaming", "Follow the Morning Star" all great reads. I must read some more. Thanks for the inspiration in getting back to painting.
Hi! I'm from Finland and never read your books before when I found the book The silent country. It was absolutely fantastic and now I've ordered 3 more from Amazon UK. I visited Australia this year and it was good to learn more about the country by reading your book.
Hi, In March this year I picked up Plantation at a book shop, I was looking for a book to read on my forthcoming trip to Malaysia Borneo it was a surprise when I realised where it was set. Even more surprising was as your book unfolded so did my trip even down to meeting Ritchie who baled my group up in the car park it was uncanny. When we visited the beautiful gardens & memorials to people lost to the war your book blended in. This was a part of the trip I was not particularly interested in but I soon became interested & when at Sandakan on the hill & looked out & saw where the Japanese invaded, then at the hotel saw pictures of before & during the invasion, I was very moved. I was very glad to have information about Palm oil & how this has affected the habitat of Orang-utans & after adopting Bella have read more about this. I shared snippets from your book with other members of the group & they would ask me how we & the book were progressing. I know that several members have since purchased it. This trip although for a National Seniors group with ages from 55-79 was for me exciting, Challenging at times, different & a little frightening at times, especially when caught in the loo with a snake. Thank you for sharing your gift of writing good books for us, I have read several others but this will always be special to me. Kind Regards Nina
Dear Mrs Morrissey, I have just finished reading The Plantation, and am doing something I have never done before, which is write to an author and say how much I enjoyed your book. I lived in Malaysia for two years, and felt that you have really bought places back to me. I was living in Malacca in 1969 when the race riots were happening, and know what a terrible time the Chinese and Indian people went through. I also visited rubber plantations, and travelled to Ipoh, Penang, KL, Singapore, and other areas, although not Sarawak. I was the best two years of my life, and I never wanted to come home. Your book helped me re-live this time of my life, but not only that, I found the entire book engrossing. The whole story was so well told that I couldn't put it down. Something that I have not done with a book for some years. Thank you, Margaret Ralph
Hi Di I'm not trying to be smart... but I've never read any of your books. However a friend recently gave me some books including one of your's which reminded me of you. You see, over 40 years ago, on a summer's day at the Rugby Sevens at Twickenham in London I met an attractive young Australian called Di Morrissey. As it happened I was due to emigrate to Australia in a couple of months after our meeting. I think we went out on a few dates and then I never heard from Di again- but I was given some contacts for when I arrived. I remember distinctly one address was North Curl Curl...how exotic that sounded! Anyway I got to Australia and I'm still here - now with an Australian wife, a grown-up family and I've just retired. But, I'm still intrigued: were you indeed that very Di Morrissey?
Hi Di - Thank you so much for all the years of enjoyment you have given me through your books and can't wait for the next one to arrive. I know the manning valley well and it's such a great area. I wish u well and hope you have a great day on Sunday with the family. take care. Pauline
Dear Di, I have just finished "Kimberley Sun" and have to tell you that I have only just stopped the tears from rolling down my cheeks. Not because it was a sad story, in fact it was a happy one of discovery, but the comments that you all made at the end were almost meant for me! I am currently living in NSW, having spent a lot of time in Broome and was only there last June with my husband, daughter and and her husband, driving the Gibb River Road up to Mitchell Falls and spending time in Broome. And so your story was truely fresh and so visual, having followed on from "Tears of the Moon". But it was the comments you three women that hit home. I left my parents in England in 1972, spent the next thirty years travelling around internationally, marrying and having a son and a daughter who we took everywhere with us. My husband and I moved here from WA leaving the children (grown up now!) and my husbands' parents behind and now have settled here for a while. But they are only a flight away. Our daughter is now newly pregnant and we are soon off to see her. Your words expressed so much of how I feel as a mother and as a daughter, wanting so much for my children to have their own paths and yet to stay close through love, despite distance, if that makes sense, something I would liked to think that I did with my parents. Both have passed on now and I so wish that I could express to them what I feel now. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to experience what I felt when I was reading your thoughts. Regards and keep writing. I now have your book, "The Valley", all ready to start. Regards Bev
have read a number of your books and absolutely love them. all are different but the stories always get you in and you can't put them down. Keep up the good work. Just finished Barra Creek and thought it was great, what a happy ending, wish it was real life
Hey Di, right now i'm reading Kimberley Sun and i'm realy impressed the way you explain the location and what it means to work on a pearl farm. i've lived in Broome for a few month and i lost my heart there but your discreption of it hits exactly what i'm feeling. And pearling is great but i guess you'll love it or hate it and you are right evrybody who has ever worked on a pearl farm will never forget about the experince. i'm happy that i got the chance to make them and i'm keeping them still deep in my heart... So your book seems to be like one of my dreams!!! great job!!! best wishes from germany jenny
Dear Di Morrissey, I want to tell you how much I enjoy reading your books. I bought the first one in Perth during a trip to Australia. Each time I go I start looking for another book. I own a travel agency in Dallas and am an Aussie specialist. There is a meeting each year somewhere in Australia and when I go you are top of my list of things to do. You have given me hours of enjoyment. Sincerely Pamela
Hi Di Thank you so much for all your books. I borrow them from the library and listen to them on CD. It's great to be entertained in a peaceful, positive way. I have just finished listening to The Silent Country and really appreciate the way in which you so strongly evoke a sense of place. I have recently returned, with my family, to the Byron area having spent the last 12 years at Findhorn, a spiritual community, ecovillage and workshop centre. I now live in Uki, close to Woolumbin/Mount Warning and feel that this would be a great location in which to set a future book. The strong energy of the place, the iconic mountain and the strong aboriginal traditions in the area would provide a rich, fertile ground for one of your stories. Anyway, thanks for reading and thanks once again for your entertaining and inspiring books. Yours in appreciation Geoffrey
Di, What a fabulous story teller you are! My husband is an avid reader and happened upon Tears of the Moon at his local used book store. When he finished it, it told me he thought I would like it so I started reading it and just couldn't put it down. when I finished it I called every book store in my city in South Louisiana, US, and could not find one book, and much to my dismay, they had not heard of Austrailia's most famous author! Very frustrating. I was able to find some of your books online and now have just finished #5. Heart of the Dreaming and Follow the Morning Star are my favorites so far,(my husband is hooked now also), but they are all just amazing. I'm waiting now for the sequel to Tears, Kimberly Sun, to come in...can't wait! You are such a fabulous story teller. I on the hunt now for the others I have not read. I still just stumped as to why book stores in the US do not have your books. Please keep them coming. Your books have started me reading again after 20 years. Thank you very much
Hi Di, I have enjoyed every book you have written, may I ask if you are writing ant more? I will soon be starting to re-read my collection from the beginning. Keep well and best wishes jenny
Hi Sandra. Thanks for your email! I've thought about it, and many readers have asked the same thing. But I have so many ideas I want to write that a Tears Trilogy is sort of on the back burner for the moment. But thanks for suggesting it! Cheers, Di
Hi Di, I love your stories. I was wondering if you plan to do a 3rd book following on from Tears of the Moon and Kimberley Sun. Keep writing your stories please. Sandra
Hello Di, Wow, I just adore your books. Please help me. I felt quite sure I have previously read a sequel to "Tears of the Moon"? Is this so or did I imagine this? Kindest Regards, Joanne Keep on Rockin' Di xx
Dear Ms Morrissey, Would just like to say thank you for all your great stories. When I am reading them I feel like I am there at the place, city, plantation, station or wherever your stories take place. Have just finished Tears of the Moon and am looking forward to getting the sequel Kimberley Sun. Again Thank you. Regards, Jenny
Dear Di, Having visited Fremantle in 20 I travelled up the west coast to Broome where I had the best time - so romantic. I was told about your book Tears of the Moon by a tourguide and I fell immediately in Love with the Monsoon gallery! I have only just got round to reading Tears of the Moon and it brought all the great memories back. I hope one day to return with the Irish guy who I happened to meet whilst there too! I cant wait to get stuck into your other stories. Best wishes Katie
Dear Di, I just had to congratulate you on your book The Silent Country. It is so beautifully written and so moving. You brought the country to life for your readers and it also moved me to tears at the end. Beautiful, as are most of your books. I'm looking forward to reading The Plantation next. Thank you for your wonderful books. You rock!! Kind regards, Cheryl
Hi, I\'m currently reading \"The Valley\" as an ex north coast girl (Bellingen) (actually lived in Taree for 12-18 months)loving it, intend to purchase the Isabella Kelly book - was facsinated by the poem from the WWI \"Aussie\" magazine - have a complete bound copy of all issues which was handed down by my father who was a WWI veteran (interpreter) mostly in France. Keep up the good work, love all your books so far, especially those set in places I can recognise. Cheers Ann
Hi Di, i have just finished Scatter the Stars and every book of yours i read, i get sucked into. I was so happy with the ending. I was in Sydney in November and took a trip up to Taree and i was lucky enough to pick up a signed copy of The Plantation. Its now my prized possession :) Keep up the good work
I just heard an audio book of The Last Mile Home and was spellbound then in tears at the end but so enjoyable. I look forward to more books Shirley
The Plantation!! Thank you Di for another great read. When can we expect another? THE PLANTATION Thank you Di for another great read. When can we expect another?
Hi Di ~ Loved your new book "The Plantation" I didn't want it to end, thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Thank you for a very enjoyable read. I wanted to see Bette's drawings & also her exhibition in Cairnes & to see the Rose Mansion. Also wanted to know more about Caroline & Philip's relationship. Thank you for sharing Bette's time in the POW Camp. It certainly was a turbulent time & after the war as well. Kind Regards Priscilla ~ I know I shouldn't ask but what are you working on next?
The Plantation was so inspirational, that I have begun research into my fathers time behind the lines in Borneo with Z Special which you discussed, and discovered a doco. on TV about your Tom Harrison as well. Today I booked a trip to Borneo in August. What a difference a book makes.
The first book I read was tears of the moon. Given to me as a gift by Aboriginal/japanese woman I stayed with at 17. I read it in a day. Captivating and wonderful. Best story of Broome and its history ever told.
I once met you at Ashby market I was looking at one of your books at the time the first one that i read I have now read 5 of your books but my favourite so far is Silent Country
Thank you for writing such great books I have all of them but not yet read your last 2 which I am looking forward to... each one is different and very interesting...thank you
Di, Just finished reading THEPLANTATION. Was such a good read, describing the prewar lifestyle, which I loved, the detail of the relationships over those years and the intrigue, I really enjoyed and am now starting the SILENT COUNTRY, I have become a fan, I hope to catch up on all your writings, Best wishes, and really enjoy your writing, I was a also a fan of Tara MOSS's books but I think you are better, Mick.
Plantation was my summer holiday read and enjoyable book, that was easy to read. Loved the history being so real to me as we have had a friend who was also a chemist in a POW camp for women. Her live was so interesting and it bought back memiors for me. I now must collect previous books to read, perhaps a good dose of Australia will do the trick Thanks keep writing,Betsy Ex Aussie
We just listened to your book BARRA CREEK. We enjoyed it very much. Is this book part of a series? Thanks, Lindah
Hi,I wonder if you could help .Ive written over a dozen christian poems(3 put to music) & would like feedback, from one like yourself whether thee worth publication
Hi Di: I happened to be in our local bookstore and found "The Islands". I was raised in Hawaii so it immediately caught my eye. Finished it last night and loved it! So many familiar people and places...can't wait to start another book. Thank you, Lisa
Dear Di, I have just finished reading "The Plantation", I found it a great enjoyable read that brought back memories of my fathers war time experiences and the fact that so much of the experience left people with both bitter and sweet perspectives that only the strongest could place back into a balanced approach to life. "The Plantation" paints that picture of the exotic that captures the imagination so easily and yet the people and situations virtually jump off the page pulsating with energy that gives the book a driving force that makes it impossible to put down, I'm a Fan, Keep it up, William
Dianne, Have just finished reading'The Plantation', a wonderful Christmas gift from my husband and that's the problem, having finished it, with an urge to visit Malaysia. Have all your books and now looking forward to your next one. Have a great and creative and my best wishes!
I always look forward to Christmas for many reasons - one being a new Di Morrissey book! Loved The Plantation. Not only are you a great storyteller, but a great travel writer. Thanks for yet another enjoyable Christmas!
Just finished reading "The Plantation" and enjoyed it so much. I have read and reread all your books and thought "The Bay" was my favourite but now I think this book is!! It brought back many happy memories for me as my family lived in KL for 2 years from 1977. (Australian Army)AND I'm a Brissie girl too. Your descriptions of the country and the people and their culture were so true. I loved your leading characters and the tissues came out at the end ... delight at the happy ending but sad that I had finished yet another masterpiece. Looking forward to another great read next Christmas! Well done, Di.
Hi Di, I have only recently begun reading your books, and have just finished The Plantation which I absolutely loved! Also loved Monsoon as had done a tour with a girlfriend through Vietnam so very relatable, and The Reef as well as I have worked on an island resort. I love all the twists at the end, always a surprise in store! Will be waiting for the next one. Thanks Di. Kaz Masters
Half way through Kimberley Sun and cannot put it down. Can't wait 2 read The Plantation, have read some great reviews.
Another great book. Can't wait for your next book. I usually read Sue Grafton and Kathy Reichs books - your books are the exception
Dear Di I just finished reading your book The Plantation. I born in Malaysia and was nine years old when the Japanse occupied Malaysia and about twelve when they left. Every detail of your book is so accurate and a lot of things that I didn't understand (because we were not allowed to talk about the Japanse and their occupation) have now been made quite clear to me. Two of my uncles were killed as communists in the jungle and two other families related to me were sent to Changi. My father owned two rubber estates which were later chnaged to Palm oil estates. I experinced the 1969 riots first hand as I was caught up in them on my way home from work, hence our migration to Australia. I crrently reside in Sydney where I have been working as a GP for the last 35 years. Reading the book was a very nostalgic experience and I have recommended it to all my Malaysian friends. Thanks for writing such a lovely book. Dr Ulita Nair
I just have to say I find you one of the best authors I thoroughly enjoy all your books and yes I have read them all at least twice. The history in each book amazes me that you put so much research into each book an the best bit is it is all mostly Australian .Please dont stop writing.I think you are a Australian icon .Thankyou for your wonderful stories an wonderful history in this great country of ours.Do you ever do book signing and where would I find out? Keep up the fabulous work Cheers A nita
hello Di have been hoping to see a book signing in our area..I have all your books and most are signed, however since Dymocks closed in Lismore, I haven't seen a notice anywhere about signings, I have held off buying "The Plantation" in hopes of seeing a signing notice.
Hello Di, Well you have done it again. I first heard of your books when an friend was reading The Last Mile Home to us over the 2 way radio while we were holidaying in western Queensland. Bothy my elderley mother & myself eagerly await the arrival your next book. Once again you have produced a wonderful story in The Plantation. I purchased it for Mum for Christmas but once again I have read it before she gets it. I simply cannot wait to read once I have purchased your books. Poor Mum gets them secondhand. I am finding that, with each story, there is a message relating to our vunerable enviroment and having had a parent who served in New Guinea during the war this one was equally enjoyable. Congratulations and I look forward to your next book. Along with your books,I look forward to finding the latest books from Patricia Shaw & Peter Watt on the bookshelves. Thank you for many hours of enjoyable reading. Cathy Phipps
Dear Di, I have just had the honour of reading your wonderful book "The Plantation" Your love of Malaysia must be as strong as mine and you captured this wonderful country warts and all. I have chosen in retirement to live with my Malaysian born Chinese wife in Malaysia under the "my second home " plan and get to enjoy this place each and every day. Thank you for a wonderful read and my only surprise was no mention of the other 98 islands of the Langkawi group, which we love to sail around. Your new reading enthusiast Phill Tinkler
Hi Di, I just finished reading The Plantation and I loved it! It was honestly one of the best books I've read in a long time. I am half Malaysian with relatives in planting and I really felt I could relate to the book. Your attention to detail is brilliant - especially regarding the process of rubber tapping! Reading The Plantation I felt as if I were back in Malaysia. I'm looking forward to reading your other books!
I picked up my first Di Morrissey book a couple of months ago, and haven't looked back - indeed, each time I finish one, I find myself going out to hunt down more of them from the local bookshop! Love your work, Di, love how the read is totally transported to a new location with each story, and love how the premise is always around family and the secrets, stories and relationships that exist within families.
Just finished Barra Creek. What an amazing work of fiction! Di, every morning and afternoon on my hour long train ride, you transported me from a stinky, rattly Tangara to a dry, desolate homestead in the Top End. I seriously wish that book didn't have to end. Heading to my local library to find more of your wonderful books tomorrow! Continue to inspire and enthrall. I love your work x.
I buy your books every year for my mother's birthday, as she and I are huge fans of your work. If we read one book each year, you can guarantee it is one of yours. Thanks for the memories Di. Always look forward to your new releases.
I have read every book so far and cannot wait for the next one. They inspire me to travel to the locations in the books. Please keep them coming
I have never read any Di Morrissey books before but I bought Plantationand I am loving it. I also grew up in Queensland and can relate very much to parts of the book am a converted Di Morrissey fan, I have many enjoyable hours of reading to come
I become hooked on your books a few years ago, and now I cant get enough. I have visited some of your locations and would love to visit Langkawi some time in the future
The plantation is riveting reading, couldn't put it down - thank you for providing decades of enjoyment. I have recently converted a co-worker to your books as well!! She is hooked! Thanks again :)
Hello Di. I had a lovely afternoon at Yarran Wines in Griffith. It was wondeful to meet, in person, the author whose books I have so enjoyed reading. It was wonderful to hear you talk about your life and writing. I could have listened for hours! Thankyou for signing all my books, and so personally. I have just finished reading your latest book, The Plantation. What a remarkable story! Bette is such an inspiring character. Though you should have warned me to have the tissues on standby! Hi Di, I can't wait to read The Plantation. I was born in Taiping Malaya 1960.(my father was with the Australian Army during the Malayan Emergency). Some months ago, my mother, sister and I returned to Malaysia after 50yrs. My parents talked about going back but my father passed away in 1968. It is the most beautiful country..its diverse peoples, cultures, religions, not to mention the exotic landscapes !! We revisited the homes in which we lived, the church where I was baptised etc. I cannot explain the love I now have for this amazing place. There is a yearning to return. I know I'm going to love this read. Love the cover ..it's so .....Malaya !!
Hi Di, I love your books, have read them all. Have not finished Blaze or Scatter the Stars, I have found them a little hard to get into, but will try again one day soon. Looking forward to buying & reading "The Plantation". Loved "The Valley". Being set in and around my local area made it even more special and enjoyable. Your books are so very hard to put down once I get started. Thanks so Much, Anne
Hi Di, I would like to thank you, your book The Islands has encouraged me to read. I have never been great reader; books never get finished or take several years. I was entrapped with The Islands and had it read within a month, I couldn’t put it down! I bonded with Catherine as we are of similar age, even though the book was set in the 1970s I could still picture the scene today. Out of your collection what would you recommend next? I wish you all the best for your future and I hope to get through your collection. Thanks for the encouragement. Sarah
Aloha, Di and Boris! Good to see all the good comments re. The Plantation. After our sharing with two of your novels. we do miss our contacts. Keep 'em coming! xxx
Hi Di, I have read all your books and they have played an important role in my life, leading me to travel to the destinations you write about etc. Please could you set one of your fantastic stories in a locale such as the winery regions of santhorpe or perhaps france. Thanks
After having read about "The Plantation" promotion - I will buy the tome - I would love to take my husband to Langkawi Malaysia after 50 years.
I wanted to tell you your books are not just works of literary art, but a great inspiration, too. I first heard about you as I was living on Heron Island & was told there was a book written with Heron being its main location - this was very exciting! Needless to say, I tracked it down, read it, & loved it. Just as I've loved every other one of your books I have read. You have indeed an amazing gift to describe our beautiful landscapes & create stories that are so powerful, I can't put the books down & when I'm finished, I wish I wasn't. Thank you for sharing your gift & knowledge with us all.
Hello Di & Boris, I hope your trip after White Cliffs was more successful and you were able to get your phones & computer going. G'Day Di, Did you know that Abdul(Cas)the camel man sold Ships of the desert and moved to Thailand to be with his special Thai lady who runs a bakery there? When I asked him what he would do there he said "probably deliver pastries to her customers" Who would have thought it eh! Cheers, Peter (avid DM reader)

if you have regular updates like via a newsletter could I please receive them, I really enjoy your books and to date only have The Silent Country to read. Thanks Lesley
Hi Diane I was in the same year as you at Narrabeen Girls High School (when I was Patty Rees - bushy red hair & freckles). We are arranging a get together to celebrate the significant time since we finished high school and were wondering whether you would like to join us. Though not set in cement yet, it appears that the date will be Thursday 2nd December at a club in Brookvale. Chris Landale is organising it. Let me know if you are interested and I'll make sure you get all the information. Pat
I have just finished reading "The Silent Country" and really enjoyed - as I have enjoyed your previous books. In 1974 & then in 1980, my husband & I travelled over the area you describe - even 20 years after 1955 there were so many changes - and even more in the 80s. We have a wonderful country - may we be sensible enough to keep it that way. Margaret Dean. Emu Creek. Victoria
Hello Di, I love your books, have read them all. when will your latest book come out??
I love your books. they always put me into another world. they give me peace. thank you Di, keep on writing.
Dear Di, I have been meaning to post a note into your Guestbook for sometime.....now is the time, please let us know if there is another book on the horizon. I was gifted 2 of your books Monsoon & Barra Creek some 18mths ago. Well that did it, I now have your entire collection and cant wait for the next book to arrive. I feel you write with a spiritual touch/feeling for each location and paint wonderful clear pictures in my readers mind. What grand Movies your books would make, hope the right Director and actors are given the chance to do so one of these days. Have any offers of this nature been presented to you thus so far.....sorry that might be a little too private to ask. Your own story inspires me to put pen to paper with my own imagination, and my poetry. So as mentioned - one "gift" leads to another like gems tossed into the pond of life. I hope that heart and hand are writing as one for you as ever and your next gift to us all is near ready to be handed on. Hope these few lines finds you and yours in good health and much happiness.

Hi Di, Can you please tell me what the dog's name was in Kimberley Sun and what it means please?? Thanks kellie
Hi Di Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy reading your books. You have a real gift to bring your characters alive. I have either visited or lived in quite a few of the places which are settings for your stories and you have drawn them very accurately. My aunt,(just recently turned 90) Phyllis Donaldson and her family lived at Bungan Beach in the 50s to the 70s while I lived at first in Lane Cove. Later my husband and I moved to the Blue Mountains, living there for 17 years and then west to Dalby(Qld) after the 'recession we had to have' ruined my husband's business. We moved around a lot after that- including the Sunshine Coast,Narrabi, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane,Pt Macquarie and finally Nowra where my husband passed away. Despite all our moves and the problems we faced- bushfire and also the death of my second daughter, we had a happy stable family and they say having to adjust to these moves actually helped them adjust to meeting new people and making new friends. I'm a teacher, mother of 6 (plus one little girl we lost from a cot death) and now a widow. My husband died suddenly from a stroke 3 years ago. We had been married for 36 years. He was a wonderful friend as well as lover and although he originally was an industrial chemist, was also a writer (wrote only two books - 'In the Wake of the Spray' and a story in 'Force Nine and More')and had the gift of a raconteur also. Currently I'm staying with one of my sons (he's not married yet) and teaching up here but hope to move back south closer to more of my children next year. (I'm 65 this year but do not intend to just 'retire' from life.) Thanks again for your books. They are a wonderful escape from the pressures of life and I can come away from them refreshed to tackle the everyday problems again. One day I would like to write of my own experiences and journeys hrough life for my children but that will have to wait for a little while yet. Regards Cynthia Slack.
Hi, I started reading your books after seeing your name on the Peter Watt site, my brother in Brisbane posts them over to me, I have to say I wait with baited breath for your next book, they are so descriptive I can picture myself there and it is always a let down when I turn the last page and return to reality.
Hello Di, We met at your very inspiring talk at Janene's fund raiser last Friday week. I am wondering how you liked the Arbonne skin care samples? I would love your feed back. I hope that you are enjoying the books too! Warm regards, Rosemarie.
Your insight and wisdom have touched me deeply and made me think of who we are and what we are doing on and to this planet called "home". I am retired and moved from NZ 5 years ago and have fallen in love with this country that has adopted me. The Songmaster touched my heart and has inspired me to change from thinking about change to doing something positive to affect it. I plan to explore the Kimberleys and listen with my heart to what they tell me.
Hi Di, I have never read any of your books, but saw you on First Tuesday Bookclub this evening and found you captivating. How do you feel about a blind date with a slightly younger man?
Hi Di, I have just been introduced to your books through a friend and find them fascinating. Could you please advise of the order they were written in and if any are a continuation of a previous novel. Thank you, Yvonne Tyler

Hello Di Your books (AUDIO) accompany me while driving, you stories often touch me with regards some places they are set, as well as the characters you give birth to. I have just finished The Silent Country and previously The Valley. I will continue to hunt your books (audio) at the library or if that fails I will purchase my own copies. I hope you never run out of inspiration. I wish you the best in your future. Regards Kathy Biggin

Having lived in Brisbane and parts of Queensland for the last 13 years, it's nice to know that I have been to some of these places that you have mentioned in these books. Please keep on writing stories about our beautiful country, you truly are an incredible writer. Regards Julie
